The Key to Santa Barbara

Updated: Dec 22, 2019

Our small beach town of Santa Barbara is surprisingly a lively, cultural hub on the weekends. From art walks, to pop-ups and everything in between - there is always something for everyone. Living in this small (routine) town, exploration and spontaneity is key! Being the millennial I am, I previously relied on social media to update me on all the SB happenings, like Facebook event invites or detailed event flyers that would pop up on my Instagram feed. But I recently discovered a new company in town, Tongo, that is changing up the event game! They created a platform for all your event needs and are continuously sharing fun experiences to do around town in Santa Barbara.

I connected with the team from Tongo to try out their new app-like website and book out my entire weekend. I decided to give it a go during Labor Day weekend because our town was a buzz with things to do and ended up having such a brilliant time at all the events! I was extremely humbled by how easy it was to discover new communities through with Tongo and it kept my schedule jam-packed with social outings and adventures. This weekend was such an incredible experience and I wanted to share my Labor Day Weekend journey in three parts. So without further adieu....join me for this series with the key to Santa Barbara, Tongo!

I just knew I was in for a whirlwind of a weekend, and started browsing the website on Saturday morning! I came across so many fun opportunities for music, dining, and wellness but what really caught my eye was a pop-up with Malene Rosé that I just couldn't miss out on! It was an afternoon soirée in the front of the Hilton Beachfront Hotel with ocean views as far as the eye could see. The most beautiful backdrop to sip some wine and have a little get together with my girl gang. On Tongo, I was able to share the event with my friends by pressing the "Send to My Phone" button and adding in my friend's phone numbers. That way coordinating was easy, they all knew the who, the what and the where for this event by the press of a button.

We walked out through the lobby only to be greeted by the sounds of my favorite duo, Party Proper Productions. Co-owners, Andrew and Kayla, always know how to throw a great party! I was beyond excited to see them partnering with such a unique event with Malene. While Andrew was DJ-ing, Kayla and I were able to catch up and chat over rosé while playing with Lucci (her dog) on the lawn. This was a complete family-friendly affair! Children were running around dancing, small groups of families were chatting around tables as they sipped their tastings of rosé. It was a quintessential Santa Barbara summer moment and I was just glad to be taking it all in. This is the exact kind of community base that Tongo finds for you!

It was no surprise that this event was just exquisite! Malene brought their very own chic airstream to lawn-party fully equipped with rosé by the bottle or draft. Decorated with their signature flamingo, you truly felt like you were on an endless summer vacation at this event. Their rosé tastings aim to capture the essence of life, whether it be a casual moment or a sophisticated evening. I was definitely captivated by the tastings and fell in love with their signature 2018 rosé that had a blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Vermentino and Syrah.

As the sun began to lower, more and more of my friends who received the Tongo event info joined us! We had such a blast during day one of my epic weekend with Tongo. And of course...Corina and I couldn't resist ordering a plate of the truffle fires to share! This is what Tongo is all about...delivering you the best experiences you can find in Santa Barbara and I love being able to share their story! So why not try it out on this Friday night? Word on the street is there is a Funk Zone Art Walk going on!
